PROLOGUE: All began 12 years ago, iin a cold and strange January...in the oldest and mysterious house of the town, "La Casa del 400"
1998:
The President, Ettore Montesi, together with the Pro Loco Council, for the first time welcomes the Festa delle Streghe which will become a main event in the next years. Halloween in Corinald starts as a small festival of the town; only one tavern inside the Scorticatore Tower. It's just the beginning...
1999:
Halloween begins to expand and to occupy the area from Piazzetta delle Erbe until the Mangano Walls; in this edition the taverns are 6.
2000:
For the first time the Tunnel della Paura shows up. Serge "The Wizard" Pierantognetti and his marvellous fireworks make their debut.
2001:
Taverns are 8 and occupy all the historical centre. For the first time, on top of 100 Scale, Miss Strega competition debuts: Donato Ciceroni is the presentor. The first convention about Fear appears: the theme is "Fears of yesterday and today". The most beautiful Corinaldo girls create the official Halloween corps de ballet.
2002:
Giuseppe Falcinelli is the new Pro Loco President and decides to better evaluate this Halloween event with new ideas and new objectives. This edition will be the eve of the definitive proclamation of a success: 11 taverns and a new official Halloween website. The convention is about "Fear and Cinema" and hosts the great horror director Dario Argento. Also the Miss Strega competition is brand new: still presented by Donato Ciceroni but for the first time in company with a nice tv star, Elisa Triani, testimonial of Halloween 2002 in the beautiful scenario of Piazza del Cassero. The visitors will 60.000: what a boom!
2003:
6th edition, Halloween in Corinaldo is already a cult: the national economic newspaper "Il Sole 24 Ore" nominates Corinaldo "Italian Halloween Capital City" and the whole press starts to demonstrate big interest in our event. We also create our radio: Radio Halloween of course! Miss Strega, with Benedetta Massola (a nice TV star) takes off thank to the marvellous 20 partecipants confirming its important role in the festival. TV shows keep inviting us and project videos about Corinaldo. The convention is about "Fear in the Art" with a crazy protagonist such as Vittorio Sgarbi. In 2003 our corps de ballet decide to get a name: voilà the "Dark Angels" and their great dancing show ! The record is served: 70.000 visitors, 25.000 only during the 31st October! The press screams: "Halloween, witches prefer Corinaldo!"
2004:
This edition keyword is quality, as President Falcinelli explains. Press compare Corinaldo to Disneyland: this means that the Pro Loco group is working with love and passion. The convention is about the Templar Knights following the Da Vinci code reasonings. Miss Strega is presented by comedian Riccardo Rossi in company with former Miss Italia Denny Mendez, a real "Miss". Shows, fireworks, taverns, radio and people coming from all over the nation: in total more than 70.000 presences, 35.000 on the last night...even if it has been raining for all the 4 days! Great!
2005:
Halloween got its first postal franking: Corinaldo is confirmed "Italian Halloween Capital City". Miss Strega reached its 5th edition with TV soubrettes such as Alessia Fabiani, big brother beauty Carolina Marconi and presenter Antonio Stornaiolo. The convention deals with a delicate theme: "Fear and Sex" with psycologist Doctor Marco Rossi and comedian Dario Cassini. Numbers? 13 taverns and 90.000 visitors... enough?!?!? ;-)
2006:
The theme of the edition is the Moon with its meanings, feelings, strangeness. The Dark Angels presents their new show "The little Horror Workshop" collaborating with Vittorio Saccinto's Teatro Time, theatre show producer. Miss Strega reached its best: 27 partecipants !!! Famous guest stars walk around the town: Ludmilla Radchenko, Ramona Badescu and Marco Liorni who presents the wannabe witch competion. Nation TVs broadcasts Miss Strega while the convention is about "Fear and Childhood". Diego Parassole makes his comedy show in Piazza del Cassero while national radio such as RDS make the thousands of visitors (MORE THAN 100.000 PEOPLE!) dance! What a party !!! Any doubt to come next year???
2007
It's Halloween Corinaldo's 10th edition ! Everybody wants to party and celebrate more than ever for this important goal ! It's the right prize for all the Pro Loco volonteers who demonstrate their love for the event and for their home town ! 10 years of success and emotions: thanks Halloween !!! The theme, of course, is the DREAM...a dream which actually come true considering the success of this edition! Many guests such as fancing star Aldo Montao, beautiful soubrette Elenoire Casalegno and Antonella Mosetti presenting an excting Miss Strega competion, many shows, fireworks and fun, lots of fun all over the beautiful Corinaldo scenario! 10 Halloween, 10.000 emotions for children, adults and elderly!
2008:
For the 11th (or 10 plus 1 as many people said...) edition the chosen theme is MADNESS quoting Marcel Proust who said that everybody is constricted to be a little bit foolish to stand the reality.2008 is the first Halloween with Riccardo Spallacci as Pro Loco President. Between lots of troubles, Spallacci can keep the Pro Loco group united and manage an impossible challenge. Corinaldo is once more "Italian Halloween Capital City": good job Mr President! In this three days edition the Pro Loco group do the best it can: convention with comedian Pippo Franco, Miss Strega with Antonio Stornaiolo and beautiful Hoara Borselli and thousand of people dancing with the music of Rosaria Renna from RDS radio. A perfect, Halloween. Or better, a deserved Halloween for all the people who worked and believed in this project, in a Corinaldo project. This is not being foolish...this is HALLOWEEN IN CORINALDO!!!
